One persons trash is another persons treasure... right?

Yep, i've become one of 'those' people. I've walked past this (hotly in debate if it's a stool or a table?) for the past week as someone had put it out by the bins, and, much to my housemates disgust, I finally picked it up! I waited until it was dark and practically ran home with it of course.

Now... what exactly I am going to do with it, I couldn't tell you yet but, needless to say, if I don't do something with it, David is itching to put it back outside! Suggestions welcome! Does picking other peoples rubbish up mean I have hit a new low?

  1. What a great find - I love it. I could see it being originally a stool which is now missing it's padding but it works perfectly as a table too!

    1. I like I like the idea of it as a table with a lamp maybe! x

  2. Not even. People throw out perfectly usable items.it would just be wrong to allow them to rot on the curb.

  3. No not at all if there was something worth snatching up round here I certainly would. Actually in the elderly block of flats my Grandad lives in if one of them passes and there's like furniture and things that their relatives don't want its but by the main entrance for anyone of the resident's to have lol. I think I would either decoupage it and have it as a little side table for a plant or lamp or have it as a stool and make a nice padded seat for it and use some bees wax to give it back its shine. Would love to see a post to see what you do with it though x

  4. I love the shape. Think I'd stick a collage of magazine pics or similar over the top and add a layer of glass xx

  6. I love it! I am a big fan of finding lovely little do ups! There is an awesome blog (can I name it on here? Is that bad manners?) dedicated to rescuing and restoring lovely (and not so lovely) finds. Cant wait to see what you do with it!

    2. It's called Roadkill Rescue: http://roadkillrescue.net/
Some of the projects are amazing (and way beyond any skill I have!) but I love to see furniture that someone has cast away being restored back to loveliness.....

Hope you can find the energy to do some whilst battling with Jenny Craig :) I am trying to absorb some of your motivation before the scales scream 'GET OFF ME!!!!!' :)

  7. How about a white wash or maybe some mirrored tiles on top and then using it as a bedside table or somewhere to display candles? The tiles would reflect the light brilliantly.

  8. I recently found a gorgeous solid wood dresser & it infested my flat with bed bugs! You really need to be careful. If its ok then you've done well but my thriftiness has cost me a LOT of time, effort & probably money too!
