Picture tutorial: wooden peg magnets

A silent tutorial for you as this is super easy and the photo's should give you a step-by-step guide of the process!

You'll need:
  • Wooden pegs
  • Deco tape(s)
  • Craft knife (Mine was £1 from Tesco!)
  • Cutting board
  • Packet of magnets
  • Glue (I used Modge Podge matte finnish but any craft glue will work)
  • Glue gun
  • Paint brush

  1. what a great and simple idea! thanks! i've never used modge podge. do you you use it over the entire clothespin or just the top surface?

i found your blog by watching your YouTube post on making felt whipped cream and donuts. thanks for taking the time to make these tutorials.

could you help me figure out how to make the beautiful and realistic looking icing for the cupcake on this site?

  2. Hey Kyong!

You only need to put the Modge Podge (or whatever pva glue you use) on the surface with the tape, not on the whole peg.

Regarding the icing, it looks like (i'm having a guess here!) you would need to cut out some circles and place them in large to small in size.

Secure each circle, one at a time, to the cake base with a stitch in the middle and then randomly make a couple of folds around and put a little stitch in to keep it folded over.

Repeat placing the next size smaller circle on top and making folds in a different place to the previous.

I hope that makes sense? The best thing is to just experiment :-)

    Hope this helps!!
